Inside Story Headline
This year's St. Lucia Jazz recorded an increase in arrivals
of 3.2% from the previous year. Markets such as the USA, UK
and Caribbean markets all showed a rise in arrivals from 2003.
The UK market recorded the highest increase with a percent
gain of 11.4% over 2003. The USA market reported an increase
in arrivals of 4.4% while the Caribbean market had an increase
of 0.17%. Seventy-two percent (72%) of foreign jazz patrons
came specifically for Jazz while the remainder twenty-eight
percent (28%) came for business purposes, vacation and weddings.
Place of Stay
Forty-one percent (41%) of the patrons stayed at hotels during
their visit to the island while the second highest percentage
of patrons, thirty-three percent (33%) stayed with friends
or family.
Likes and Dislikes
The likes and dislikes noted this year bears similarities
to that of past years:
Likes: Atmosphere and buzz created by the festival, great
variety of shows and venues, organisation, weather, artistes,
friendly people, scenic beauty of venues chosen.
